Samantha Leggett is a contemporary Australian artist whose practice explores the enduring relationship between humanity and the natural world. Through richly layered acrylic paintings, expressive botanical abstraction and intuitive mark-making, she creates works that celebrate resilience, transformation and the emotional language of colour.

A maker from childhood, Leggett's creative life was shaped by the women who first taught her the value of making—her mother, aunt and inspiring teachers—and by a deep connection to the Australian landscape fostered through her father's love of the bush. Driven by a lifelong curiosity about the origins of creativity, she travelled extensively through Europe before undertaking formal study, exploring the enduring impulse that has led people to create across cultures and throughout history.

Today, nature has become both her subject and her teacher. Working instinctively through successive layers of colour, texture and gesture, each painting evolves as a process of discovery rather than a predetermined image. Botanical forms become metaphors for growth, memory and renewal, while vibrant colour carries the emotional rhythm of the work.

Rather than depicting a particular place, Leggett's paintings invite moments of reflection.
